Video games for ADHD

Check out this interesting article on video gaming for people with ADHD. Hopefully we see some games geared towards people with specific disabilities. Autism would be a great one for our family!

As much as 6 percent of the American population has ADHD, a disorder that makes
it difficult to focus. The usual treatment is medication that can have serious
side effects. But now, some doctors are sucessfully treating ADHD with video
games.

Doctor Margaret MacDonald treats ADHD with smart brain games.
It's a new system that combines brain wave monitoring, biofeedback and video
games.

The goal is to alter the brain wave patterns responsible for
ADHD. A hat is fitted with sensors. The patient is only sucessful at the game
when emitting the right kinds of brain waves.

Doctors say the smart
brain game usually requires about 40 sessions that last 20 to 30 minutes each,
and the results are permanent.
