is obama's teleprompter misuse really an issue?

i don't see what the big hullabaloo about obama's teleprompter use is. whether he uses note cards or a teleprompter he should stick to whatever works. he doesn't look like a robot, he looks polished. he doesn't look like he's only reading a script that his staff wrote, he looks like he's reading material he had a hand in and is passionate about it's presentation to the public.

personally speaking i can't stand public speakers that take note cards with them everywhere. if you have a speech you'd better memorize it or i'm going to feel like you're wasting my time. i get distracted when i see someone's head go up and down constantly to look at cards, find their place, pause when they can't find it then stumble over their words trying to figure out where they left off.

when i'm watching the president make a speech the last thing i want to see is a simple man, unable to memorize a speech, reading from a stack of note cards. an off the cuff speech doesn't impress me either. not in the least. THAT just makes me feel like you're a snake waiting to bite my head off. you're a good public speaker...so what? it's what you can do about the things you say not what you say you can do that counts. if you happen to need a little help saying it better who cares?

see, i think this is what they call minutia isn't it? when an entire country of people are so unfocused all they can focus on are small insignificant details. it is very much a trifling matter and in my most humble opinion there are much more important things to focus our energy on.

thanks @richpalmer for posting the article. i really enjoyed reading it.
